Today, is the 81st anniversary of the D-Day invasion ........ 🦅

During World War II, the D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944, united the Allied armies of land, sea, and air to form the largest invasion force in human history. The operation, code-named OVERLORD, delivered five naval assault divisions to the beaches of Normandy, France.

The Brother of my Paternal Grandfather parachuted into France with the 82nd Airborne Division - 81 years ago - during the D-Day invasion.

He was truly part of the greatest generation.

Goodbye, May, and Hello, June 🌞

June is named after Juno, the Roman Goddess of Marriage (equivalent to Greek mythology’s Hera and the Celtic region’s ultimate mother, the Goddess Danu). June is said to be a good month to get married. 

Jolting with joy and the Sun, June is associated with equally radiant symbols, including the rare and highly valuable semi-precious stone Alexandrite.

June is also a month of balance. We have the ‘Mother’ figures, Juno, Hera, and Danu, but we also have the ‘Father,’ Zeus. This prominent patron of the month is the archetypal symbol of power, strength, clarity, and light—all of which, as we have seen, feature prominently throughout the symbols of this month. 

The month of June will bring us laughter and excitement. It is the month when energy integrates toward unity and compassion, and it is a time of fertility in all of nature. So, take the time to reflect on this month because it signifies the end of the year's first half. Ask yourself, “Did I achieve all that I wanted to? Did I allow time to center and relax through the pressures, or did I react negatively in a stressful way?” It is a choice to be stressed out; I sometimes do that to myself, too. 

During this time, listen to your inner voice because we all have lessons to learn spiritually, at work, at school, or within our families. Reach out to one another - for all the goodness that seemed too far to reach is now within your grasp. Place yourself in the driver’s seat and move toward your brighter self. You control your destiny, even though you may not know it yet.

Freedom is internal .......

America spent over one trillion dollars trying to bend the world to its will, which made the other nations of the world unshakable.

We must also keep in mind that the United States doesn't have high-speed trains. We don’t have roads that last. We don’t have universal healthcare or an education system that ranks among the best. But we do have the most advanced weapons on Earth, pointed in every direction throughout the world.

If we’d used even a fraction of that money on ourselves, our cities would hum like circuits. Our schools would shine. Our hospitals would heal. Our people might feel something we haven’t felt in a long time—progress 🤔

He was called the Pope for the working class and fought for equal pay and equal rights for all working men and women. I never imagined there would be an American Pope in my lifetime, and I have been a recovering Catholic for many years 🤔

Goodbye, April, and Hello, May 🌺

May is the last full month of spring, and it is named for the Roman goddess Maia, who oversaw the growth of plants, also from the Latin word maiores, “elders,” who were celebrated during this month. Maia was considered a nurturer and an earth goddess, which may explain the connection with this springtime month.

Undoubtedly, May is a beautiful month for both hemispheres. In the North, spring is gradually blooming into summer, while the South celebrates autumn's gorgeous colors and harvest.

This month has the energy to help us reach our goals and heart desires. We utilize May’s energies by going the extra mile with our projects; watching them succeed will be our ultimate reward.

May also brings about expansion and spiritual growth when we feel we can rise above adversity. The magical concept of May is that you don’t know if you will succeed until you move out of yourself and give it a go.

The 1st of May marks the Beltane festival for the northern hemisphere, and Samhain is also celebrated on the 1st of May in the southern hemisphere. It was a time to dance, sing, and be merry. A time to emit your inner light and to show your love; it was also celebrated to usher in the new season.

Like all months in the Gregorian calendar, May was named by ancient cultures. The Greeks called it May after their goddess Maia, referred to in Roman culture as Bona Dea.

Let this month usher in positive energy to work on self-improvement. Live the journey, let your self-expression shine, dare to do things differently, and ask, “What can I do to make this world a better place?”

Life is an ever-renewing cycle of love and rebirth, so let the month of April reveal that to us with nature's blooming blossoms.

The name April is rooted in the Latin Aprilis, which is derived from the Latin aperire, meaning “to open." This could refer to the opening or blossoming of flowers and trees, a common occurrence throughout April in the Northern Hemisphere.

Since months are often named for gods and goddesses, and since Aphrilis is derived from the Greek Aphrodite, it is possible the month was named for the Greek goddess of love (the goddess that the Romans called Venus)! Even now, April is a popular name.

The month of April goes way back; before January and February, it was added to the end of the year by King Numa Pompilius around 700 BCE. April was already the second month of the Roman calendar year (March was the first). It was around 450 BCE when April was rearranged into the fourth slot and assigned 29 days. But with the introduction of the Gregorian calendar by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, an extra day was added, and “30 days hath April” has been on our minds ever since.

People who are born in April tend to be energetic and active. They are enthusiastic and passionate about food, science, books, and travel. Apart from this, they pay more attention to actions than words. The people surrounded by April-born people will often have a bright smile with them.

March is the first month of Spring, which begins between March 19-21. In the Southern Hemisphere, March is the same as September in the Northern Hemisphere. Each year March and June end on the same day of the week. It is the time of year when animals wake up from hibernation. 

The month of “March” is named after the Roman god of war, Mars, and this was the time of year to resume military campaigns interrupted by the cold of winter. Interestingly, March (or Martius) was the first month of the calendar year in the early Roman calendar.

In Celtic astrology, the third and fourth moons are essential in March. The year's third month celebrates the northern hemisphere's famous spring equinox (March 21-22). 

In addition, it is impossible to speak of the spiritual meaning of March without addressing this month's birthstone. It is aquamarine/heliotrope (also known as a bloodstone). It is easily recognizable, although very rare, by its dark green color and red spots. Legend has it that warriors once wore it during battles to calm their bleeding, ease their pain, and heal their wounds.

In many cultures, the month of February is often associated with purification, love, and the transition from winter to spring; its name itself originates from the Latin "februare" meaning "to make pure," reflecting ancient Roman festivals of cleansing and renewal that took place during this month, including the Februalia, which involved making sacrifices to the gods.

In our Western culture, Valentine's Day is celebrated in February and is widely recognized as a month to focus on love, not just romantic love but also love for family, friends, and a higher power.

The ancient Roman festival "Februalia" emphasized cleansing rituals, making February a time for spiritual purification and letting go of negativity.

As February falls between the coldest part of winter and the approaching spring, it symbolizes a time of transition and rebirth.

Some ancient traditions within February celebrations, like the Parentalia, honored ancestors and their spirits.

February in the Hindu traditions falls within the month of Phalgun, associated with the goddess Saraswati, symbolizing knowledge and creativity.

In the Buddhist tradition, Makha Bucha is a significant Buddhist holiday that falls around the full moon in February.

Goodbye, November, and welcome December ❄ ⛄

December got its name from the Latin word Decem (meaning ten) because it was originally the tenth month of the year in the calendar of Romulus, which began in March c. 750 BC. The winter days following December were not included as part of any month.

For the ancient Romans, December signified the time to honor the Gods and keep the earth fertile and abundant. It was a time to celebrate the goddess or god inside us all, to hold our spirit, soul, and the gift of life as sacred.

The Month of December’s official birthstone is Turquoise, and December's Birth Flower is the Holly (or Narcissus). The Tropical Zodiac sign for December is Sagittarius from November the 22nd to December the 21st and Capricorn from December the 22nd to January 19th.

The month of December represents unity and trust, a divine connection, and success in all areas of life. It also represents challenges, commitments, and a time when your power is tested, and succeeding will take courage, risk, trust, and compassion.
